so many galleries would exhibit this. very aesthetically pretty and the process is super interesting. i still have no idea how convert your magnetic science sorcery to sound.
so, the amp is lying on the ground, the bucket is on top of it, the ferrofluid is in the bucket i suppose, and the lamp is illuminating the liquid as it forms patterns
what is the amp plugged into? a guitar with heavy duty magnets over the pickups? or is the amp plugged into your computer recording the sound, and the magnets are in the buckets creating feedback in the amp?
there’s a keyboard plugged into the amp, and the ferrofluid is picking up resonance from the note (there’s a fair amount of distortion and the metal pan is resonating a little too) which is just. when the pattern isn’t moving its just the standing pattern generated by the magnet (which is between the pan and the amp) and ferrofluid
jim, did you make this video?
Yes I did.
jim,
this is super fucking cool!!
how did you do it
av
yeah…this is fantastic
usual bag of tricks… an amp, a lamp, a magnet, a keyboard, and some ferrofluid

oh, ok. so the amp sound is moving the magnets. so you are creating new dimensions…should i be scared?
